This is a single-mode device using High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) technology and is expected to be available on a worldwide basis in May, 2011. The U151 features a sleek and compact design and operates over either 850/1900 MHz or 900/2100 MHz frequency bands, features “plug and play” installation with no CD required and includes very intuitive and easy to use connection manager software.

NDIS 6.2, supported by Windows® 7, is an application program interface (API) for devices such as USB modems and embedded modules that eliminates the need for separate connection manager software and makes it easy to view and manage mobile broadband network connections. Upcoming versions of Franklin’s U600 dual-mode WiMAX/CDMA USB modem as well as the dual-mode M600 and single-mode M600C embedded modules will feature NDIS 6.2 support. The company believes that this is the first such public announcement regarding NDIS 6.2 support for dual-mode WiMAX/CDMA modems or modules.

Provider of wireless data products Franklin Wireless has announced the availability of its new U600 3G and 4GWE USB mobile broadband modem through Sprint.

The new U600 modem comes with many new features such as a 270-degree rotating hinge, four external antenna ports, and firmware update management object. In addition, it also features global positioning system location based services while on 3G and 4G antenna TX diversity which optimizes uploads while on WiMAX.

Company officials said that the U600 3G and 4G USB modem supports Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and Mac OS 10.5, 10.6 with Intel.

Moreover, it has separate light-emitting diode displays. Company officials said that this makes it easier for users to know whether they are connected to Sprint’s 3G or 4G network.
